I would firstly like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Land on which these events have taken place. I pay my respect to Elders, Past and Present.

If you're considering booking with TravelHub, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me, and I'll make sure you're directed to one of our Travel Agents. I do make a commission if you decide to book anything, which of course won't cost you anymore!

Why Travel Hub?

If you've searched up anything along the lines of “Things to do in Cairns” you’ve most likely been barraged by hotel ads, YouTube videos, seven-year-old Reddit posts, blogs and all sorts of shit. There’s a trillion different options, for a trillion different things all at once- and somehow, you’ve wound up here! I’m glad you made it, and can escape all of those scary ads, using every possible word to persuade you that they are, in fact, the best. I’m now gonna use far less annoying words to tell you why TravelHub is actually the best.

So the main thing I want to put at the forefront of this is how down-to-earth these people are! I never once felt like they were trying to sell me something they didn’t love themselves. Nor did I ever feel like I was talking to the business-shell of the human beneath. They came as they were in every single instance and I found myself laughing every single time we booked something, instead of gritting my teeth hoping I didn’t just get fucked over. I never had to wonder if my wife and I were getting ripped off- if they were recommending something, we knew it was perfect for us. They never shoved “deals” down our throats or thousand-dollar luxury dinner cruises. As backpackers themselves, they knew we weren’t there for that stuff. Oftentimes, I’d find myself chatting with them outside of Travel Hub, whether it be on the street or at the pub. And yes, Bailey (Co-Founder) my wife and I are going to Tassie, and we’re gonna drop by your parents' place with a bottle of wine on our trip around the island as we promised them.

Okay, so even if they weren’t the coolest people ever (which they kinda are), they do happen to get you THE BEST deals for the best price. Whether you’re booking a campervan, tour, or whatever, they’ll get you the best price with NO service fee involved. Yes, you read that right, you can stop doing re-reads. Prior to going through them, my wife and I weren’t even considering stuff like tours or rentals or anything, only because… we’re broke backpackers! But the team there put so many things in our reach financially that otherwise would’ve been unaffordable.

What They Have to Offer

In simple terms: Good shit.

Tours

They’ve got just about an endless amount of varying tours all around Australia and New Zealand. Whether it be a trip to the outback, a group tour in Tassie, a jam-packed adventure in Cairns , or a month-long journey up the East Coast, they’ve got you covered! And in TravelHub fashion, they of course offer a Build Your Own East Coast Itinerary where they work one-on-one to craft a completely tailored trip that’s perfect for you! Again, with no service fee!

Transport

Booking through TravelHub is always cheaper than booking directly.

If you’re looking to book a Campervan/Car, meat pie in hand, beer in the back, and a smile on your face, headed for the beach, then it’s a no-brainer to book through TravelHub!

They’ll also help you sort out transport with bookings. When my wife and I booked our tours that went far from where we lived, we were able to get picked up and dropped off by the company just five minutes from our share-house with most of our tours.

Resources/Guidance

With all of the staff being backpackers themselves, TravelHub is a fountain of knowledge. If you head to their site they break down many things us backpackers try our best to learn and understand when first coming to Australia which is all fucking confusingggg. But they make everything easy to read and digest, so that this whole moving countries and traveling around thing doesn’t make your brain want to explode.

So if you’re looking for a bit of guidance when it comes to traveling to Australia, 88 days work, superannuation, employment, SIM cards, etc, then go ahead and check out the Work and Travel section on their website as well as their Instagram where they often post tips and FAQ’s.

They’re also reallyyyy fuckin good at responding to messages, so ask away!

Our Experience with TravelHub

My wife and I were very put off by the thought of using a travel agency. We were backpackers through and through who did EVERYTHING on our own. I’d passed by a couple agencies and had chatted with the staff, which repulsed me even more. I felt like some little bug that they just wanted to drain all the money out of.

Then, Kirk (Co-Founder) was chatting with my wife (then girlfriend) and he was so damn nice! So we figured, fuck it, let's at least go walk in. We chatted with Bailey and within minutes we were all laughing like we’d known each other a long, long time. No more were we gritting our teeth at the thought of spending hundreds of dollars like we were before. That day they helped book us to not only go skydiving, but bungee jumping as well- all in the same day! It was full-on doing both of them, but it was so, so worth it.

Happy snorkelers on a baot.
My wife and I out on the reef <3

After that, we planned to book a reef trip, we had our eyes set on one option closer to shore and cheap enough that we’d still make rent that week. Bailey recommended the outer reef for us, but we told him there was nooo way we could afford it. But, they really do get the cheapest deals, and we got to dive three sites on the outer reef all day with food and drinks provided. It was only $260, which, from my memory, was only $20 more than doing the inner reef, and Bailey knew we wanted to be far out so I could freedive the reef. (I did my deepest dive to date! 70 feet!!!) clap for me pls :)

The next time we walked in, we told them to just throw something at us. And the next day we were white water rafting! There were grey clouds scaling the mountains that surrounded the Tully River as rain fell overhead. I was happy to have gone overboard, consensually anddd non-consensually (veryyy rough river). At the end, we had a stop at a pub with some warm food and cold beer waiting for us and the rest of the group. Genuinely one of my best days in Cairns, and would not have thought to do it were it not for their recommendation.

They also helped get us to Fitzroy Island, where I fell asleep at the top of the mountain cause I was exhausted and was massively confused when I woke up in the sky surrounded by ocean. big oops

Conclusion

These guys are FOR backpackers, BY backpackers.

They’ve got lots of passion backing them, and they haven’t changed a bit. I hate to use this word, but it is genuinely refreshing to see people full of so much true passion doing what they love best, which is helping other travelers! Wandering this planet can be scary and stressful, so to anyone helping guide others along that journey, I do give the highest salute.

Thank you to TravelHub for helping me and many others along our journeys, and to many more hopefully!

Happy Travels!

every dollar goes miles for me! self-publishing is EXPENSIVE, I'm doing it no matter what, of course, but making rent is always nice : ))
